Who is a candidate?
People with:
- Loose or excess skin on their abdomen
- A separation between the muscles in the middle of their abdomen (diastasis)

Will you need to stay in hospital overnight?
No
How long will you need to take off from work/school?
Average is 1 week; some people may return to work or school in less than a week, while others may take 2 weeks to recover
What types of restrictions are there after surgery?**
- Return immediately to non-strenuous activities which do not raise your heart rate or blood pressure, and won’t result in breaking into a sweat
- Resume strenuous activities in 2 weeks, with the exception of heavy lifting
- No heavy lifting (more than 10 pounds) for 6 weeks
Other details:
- If a drainage tube is inserted, it is usually removed within 1 to 2 weeks
- You will need to wear an abdominal binder for 4 to 6 weeks after surgery
- You may shower 48 hours after surgery
- There are no stitches to remove
