What it is:

* 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the amount of skin to be removed



Average is 1 week, although some people feel able to return to work or school in less than a week

  • Return immediately to non-strenuous activities which do not raise your heart rate or blood pressure, and won’t result in breaking into a sweat
  • Resume strenuous activities in 2 weeks, although activities involving extreme or rapid thigh motion should be avoided for at least 4 weeks


  • If drainage tubes are inserted, they are usually removed 1 to 2 weeks after surgery
  • You will need to wear a compression garment for 4 to 6 weeks after surgery
  • You may shower 48 hours after surgery
  • There are no stitches to remove
  • The scar from a thighlift may be visible when wearing shorts or skirts
