Medi-Spa Aesthetic Services at UPMC Altoona Plastic Surgery
At UPMC Altoona Plastic Surgery, we offer a range of medical-spa services to help you look and feel your best. These noninvasive, nonsurgical cosmetic enhancements are offered in the comfort of our office setting at Station Medical Center in Altoona and are performed by our specialty-trained, experienced physician assistant and plastic surgery nursing staff, under the clinical supervision of our board-certified plastic surgeon.
Nonsurgical Medi-Spa Services:
BOTOX®, Xeomin®, and Dysport®
Used to help minimize or prevent the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the face, this injection treatment takes just 10 to 15* minutes in our office setting. To maintain results, injections should be scheduled every 3-4 months.
Chemical Peels
Office-based chemical peels are essential for maintaining and restoring skin’s health and appearance. Performed by a skincare professional, these exfoliating treatments help resurface the uppermost layer of the skin to reveal new, healthy skin underneath. Chemical peels are available in a variety of formulations and concentrations to target various skin concerns including fine lines and wrinkles, blemishes, enlarged pores, and uneven skin tone.
CoolSculpting®
A nonsurgical option for fat reduction and body contouring, CoolSculpting treatments can freeze and kill stubborn fat cells in areas of the body including under the chin, thighs, abdomen, back, upper arms, and under the buttocks. Length of office session varies depending on the area(s) being treated, but plan for at least 30 to 60* minutes. Results are not immediate, as the body takes some time to flush out the dead fat cells. Multiple treatments over time can yield better results, and results will be more visible and last longer when CoolSculpting is combined with a sensible diet and regular exercise.
FotoFacials™ and Broadband Light Treatment
These two different types of high-intensity light therapies can help to address fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, and rosacea by stimulating the production of healthy collagen and elastin. Both treatment types typically require multiple visits for best results, with each session lasting 30 to 60* minutes in length. Our knowledgeable staff at UPMC Altoona Plastic Surgery can talk to you about the differences in treatment type and which is right for you.
Injectable Fillers
Fillers are injected beneath the skin to add volume to areas which have become deflated or hollow with age, and to smooth out lines and wrinkles. Injections typically take less than 20* minutes in our office. Fillers dissolve slowly over time and must be refreshed periodically; with the length of time they will last dependent on the type of filler used and where it was injected. It is recommended that you avoid rubbing or applying direct pressure to the treated areas for one week after the procedure.
Our certified providers at UPMC Altoona Plastic Surgery offer fillers including:
- Juvederm Voluma®
- Juvederm Volbella®
- Renuva® allograft matrix for volume restoration
- Restylane® Lyft, Defyne, Refyne, Kysse, and Contour
KYBELLA®
KYBELLA® is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment for adults that destroys fat cells to gradually improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin.”
Laser Treatments
We offer different types of laser treatments for hair removal, resurfacing, photo rejuvenation, skin tightening, scar improvement, skin discoloration treatment, sun or age spot removal, rosacea, spider vein treatment, and wrinkle reduction. Number of sessions recommended will vary depending on the type of laser and area treated.
We offer:
- Halo™ for anti-aging treatment, melasma, scars, reducing pore size
- Microlaser peel for skin rejuvenation
- Profractional laser treatments for advanced scar treatment
Microneedling
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure for your skin. Your healthcare provider uses thin needles to make tiny holes in the top layer of your skin. The damage helps stimulate your skin’s healing process, so it produces more collagen and elastin. These proteins keep your skin firm and smooth.
Sclerotherapy
This treatment for spider veins involves injection of a solution into the problem spider vein to attempt to make it close and disappear. This in-office treatment typically takes only 10 to 15* minutes and yields best results with several sessions.
* Times may vary since each case is unique.
