What it is:

Removal of excess breast tissue in men

Men who are:

  • Bothered by the amount of breast tissue they have
  • Self-conscious about showing their chest due to excess breast tissue

Average is 4 to 7 days; many men undergo the procedure on a Thursday or Friday and return to work or school by the following Monday

  • Return immediately to non-strenuous activities which do not raise your heart rate or blood pressure, and won’t result in breaking into a sweat
  • Resume strenuous activities in 2 weeks

Although sometimes covered by insurance, the procedure is most often considered cosmetic and therefore not covered

  • You will need to wear a compression vest day and night for 4 to 6 weeks after surgery
  • You may shower 24 hours after surgery
  • There are no stitches to remove
