People who:
- Have excess skin on their upper and/or lower eyelids
- Feel as if their eyelids make them look tired

* 1 to 2 hours, depending on if upper, lower, or both sets of eyelids are treated

Local or sedation
Will you need to stay in hospital overnight?
No
How long will you need to take off from work/school?
Average is 1 week or less; while it is possible to return to work or school in less than a week, you may have bruising around your eyes (black eyes)
What types of restrictions are there after surgery?**
- Return immediately to non-strenuous activities which do not raise your heart rate or blood pressure, and won’t result in breaking into a sweat
- Resume strenuous activities 2 weeks
Is the procedure covered by insurance?
If excess upper eyelid skin reduces your peripheral vision, an eye doctor will test your peripheral vision to determine if surgery is medically necessary and therefore covered by insurance
Other details:
- You may shower 24 hours after surgery
- Stitches will be removed 1 week after surgery
